Back to the basics

I love having everything in my world organized but it's a lot easier said then done, so for the next few days I am going to try and get rid of all the waste (i.e. all the shirts I buy for a one time wear) and make room for my everyday wardrobe.  On my flight home I re-read through one of my books:
I Love Your Style
How to define and refine your personal style
by Amanda Brooks
Brooks talks about the basics of a personal wardrobe and how you can make them last a lifetime.  So this inspired me to do the same.  Basics can be worn all the time, you can mix and match and are great for layering.  It may seem a little crazy to put your savings towards something like a white t-shirt but it can really go a long way.  How often do you have to go out and buy a new pair of jeans after only one or two washes?  I found a pair of jeans at Forever 21 that were priced at $14.95, I really liked them and continue to by them as mine faded quickly.  If the store still carried this pair I probably would have spent at least $60 by now on jeans that cant last a trip to the washer.  Once I discovered how much it adds up I decided to put aside a savings to invest on a pair that can last me a year versus a month.  Note: you don't have to blow all your money on a pair on Macys.  On our recent trip my mother and I went to Century 21 and I found myself a pair of Rag & Bone oil spilled jeans retailing at $180 I spent $80.  Marshalls and other outlet stores are also known to carry big quality labels.  Anyways I'm getting off my denim rant, heres a few investment worthy pieces but keep in mind: quality vs quantity.

No one does basics better than Ashley Olsen
